Hasluck's Heavenly Home Hair Remedies

If lockdown taught us anything it was how to scroll through the internet for hours upon hours

looking for absolutely anything to entertain us and keep our spirits up. I mean if you didn’t make a TikTok did you even quarantine?

One thing we did do during quarantine lockdown was come up with some home remedies that you ladies (and gents) can recreate at home to get your hair through the tough times we all went through. We would love to share some of these little secret remedies with you, they aren’t just for lockdown but if you can’t get to the salon in time or you just want a girls night pamper without the cost then look no further.

When we did our research some of the things people were suggesting to put into your hair actually made us feel a bit ill. I mean who wants to put mayonnaise in their hair? Not me… gross!

Dry damaged hair? Then why not try this little mask. Its suitable for all types of hair. Obviously if you have allergies to any of these ingredients, please be sensible and do not put them on your hair or scalp.

Honey, Egg and Apple Cider Vinegar.

  1. 1 tsp Honey, 1 Egg and 1 tbls Apple Cider Vinegar

  2. Mix them all together and apply them to your hair

  3. Leave in for 30 - 40 minutes then wash out.

Flakey scalp? Don’t reach for the head and shoulder get on this little beauty. Benjamin Hasluck owner and creative director at Hasluck’s states that the reason for a flakey scalp could be due to excessive exposure to the sun, UV’s and the heat that is drying out your scalp. This treatment wont't just exfoliate the scalp but it will also reduce the amount of flakiness around your cranium.

Coconut Oil, Sugar and Peppermint Oil

Coconut Oil is so easily available that it could be a construed as a fad but multiple studies have shown that coconut oil comes out on top when applied to hair. It helps to reduce protein loss in hair that has been bleached, exposed to UV’s or chemicals. It also tastes pretty good. The sugar helps break down dead skin cells, the peppermint reduces any inflamed areas and helps increase circulation to the scalp plus it feels awesome.

  1. 2 tbls Coconut oil, 4 tsp brown/caster sugar and 5 drops peppermint oil

  2. Mix all together

  3. Apply to damp clean hair in the shower

  4. Massage into the scalp for 2 minutes (avoiding the eyes)

  5. leave in your hair and continue to shower and get those grubby bits clean

  6. Last but not least wash out and feel your oats

Gorge right?

Our last home remedy is an easier one

Olive Oil and Avocado

Simple yes, but full of goodness. The olive oil is full of fatty acids (this is good fat, okay) and help with the growth of hair and adds that shine and strength you were all searching for.

The Avocado helps to stimulate hair protein due to the amino acids and soothes the scalp. Perfect for dry damaged hair looking for a revitalisation.

  1. 1 Ripe avocado smashed

  2. 2 tbls of olive oil

  3. Optional - 2 tbls Honey for that extra boost of hydration.

  4. Mix all together and apply to damp hair.

  5. Leave in for 20-30 mins and wash out as normal.

Linda Evangelista look out there’s a new bitch in town.

These are just a few hair treatments we have come across and found they worked wonders. However, if you're not as adventurous then fear not.

At Hasluck’s we have an Olaplex treatment you can add on to your cut and colour (Olaplex blog to follow). Ask Ben or Jodi for more details.
